Travel services management system

A multi-platform product for the travel industry and travellers, from mock-ups to a ready white-label platform.

Client anonymised

Context

The client had an idea for a system bringing together travellers from around the world, along with a list of requirements. The product had to run on the web and on mobile, with a separate admin panel and a section for sellers of travel services.

Problem

The scope was wide: an advanced chat, a forum with a category tree, a personal blog, service ratings, flight and hotel search, subscriptions with payments, and a travel offer builder with a role system. The whole product had to be sellable in many copies to further customers (white-label). The client did not know how to assemble this into one coherent, secure and fast system.

Solution

We started with mock-ups grouped by module and approved by the client. We then built the system from separate services on AWS, communicating over queues and HTTP and WebSocket. Flight and hotel data comes from an external provider, integrated so it can later be swapped out without touching the rest of the system. ELK monitors the platform, and documentation was written alongside the code.

Outcome

The client received a ready white-label product they can resell, and runs their own instance earning subscription revenue. The documented, modular design makes the system easier to maintain and extend.
