Efficient e-commerce system
A marketplace for suppliers, plugged into a live store network and built for a very high order volume.
Client anonymised
Context
The client runs a chain of stores across several European countries. It has an e-commerce system that handles orders and purchases in local stores, and that system is made up of many separate services.
Problem
The client wanted to widen its assortment with a marketplace where suppliers add their own offers. The new product had to be fully integrated with the existing system and keep all of its functions. Performance mattered a great deal, because an enormous number of orders is processed every day.
Solution
We built a fully configurable marketplace with advanced search and a supplier panel. After studying the domain and the logic of the existing system in depth, we integrated with it mainly over REST APIs and SFTP, without changing how it already worked. The whole product was optimised for a very high daily order volume. Payments run through PayU.
Outcome
The client gained a product that widened its assortment, which brought more customers and more orders.
